As part of the 11th International Summer University, the Maliotis Cultural Center hosted a truly exceptional evening dedicated to the powerful legacy of Greek cartooning and its vital role in public discourse.

Three of Greece’s most acclaimed cartoonists—Elias Makris, Andreas Petroulakis, and Stathis Stavropoulos—offered a captivating round table discussion in the Maliotis Auditorium, shedding light on the evolution of cartoons in the Greek press. Their reflections brought to life the profound relationship between art and politics, humor and critique, and the enduring importance of the Greek language as a vehicle for commentary and cultural expression.

Following the dialogue, guests ascended to the Center’s twin exhibition wings, where an inspiring showcase of the artists’ work invited deep reflection and admiration. The evening concluded with a joyful reception in the foyer—a vibrant gathering of minds and hearts united in appreciation for the power of the visual word. It was a night to remember—where the pen met the pulse of society, and where the spirit of Hellenic creativity resonated across generations.
