Together with my beloved brother in the Lord, Metropolitan Nicholas, we extend a most warm and fraternal welcome to His Eminence, Metropolitan Maximos of Ioannina, who led us in the Divine Liturgy this morning.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, arrived today, August 17, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan where he will preside at the Consecration Services of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ann Arbor, MI this weekend.

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met virtually with clergy from the Metropolis of Detroit for an open dialogue about the proposed revisions to the Charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. This is the fourth meeting of its kind following last month’s virtual sessions with clergy from the Archdiocesan District and the Metropolises of Boston and New Jersey

In an immediate first response to the devastating tornadoes, National Philoptochos donates $25,000 to Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund. Prayers are needed for the communities of six to eight states that have had havoc wreaked upon them by the tornadoes of Friday night, December 10, 2021.

Each year the AHEPA Omega Detroit Chapter 371 gives $3,000 to each of five churches in the Detroit metro area where its members are parishioners on the Feast Day of each church’s patron saint. Recent contributions were given on April 23rd to St. George Church, Southgate, MI and on May 21st to the Saints Constantine and Helen Church, Westland, MI. The contribution is made as a demonstration AHEPA’s long-standing support of Orthodox churches, and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit.

Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit celebrated the feast of the Veneration of the Holy Cross at the parish of Holy Cross Is Farmington Hills, MI

The AHEPA Omega Chapter 371 provides significant support to Orthodox parishes and Hellenic organizations in the Metropolis of Detroit. A recent donation of $5,000 was made to support the Clergy Pension Plan of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOA). The check was presented to His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit offices in Troy on February 18th.
