NEW YORK – The Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical & Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is pleased to announce that Ms. Spyridoula Fotinis, a student at City College in New York City, has won the Orthodox Christian Interfaith Initiative Contest.

Contestants of all faith traditions were invited to submit a written text, photo or video that best expresses the Orthodox Church’s commitment to interfaith dialogue. Ms. Fotini submitted a photo of an Orthodox Christian blessing service on her college campus that included students of different faith traditions.

Ms. Fotini, in her description of the photo, states:

“Although the image captures only a moment of our meeting and a few people with incredible stories of how they came to OCF {Orthodox Christian Fellowship}, our chapter flourished and grew based on our relationships with people who adhere to other faiths. The majority of attendees at our meetings were non-Orthodox ranging from backgrounds of Judaism, Protestantism, atheism, and a student who was a Jehovah’s Witness.

The Orthodox Christian Initiative to Advance Interfaith Dialogue of the Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical & Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America represents the culmination of the Rev. Dr. Nicolas Kazarian’s fellowship at the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID, Vienna – Austria).
