Register Now for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco’s “Our Greek Village 2021”
Our Greek Village immersion camp is still accepting registrations for this year’s virtual camp being held June 19 – 26, 2021. Now entering its 12th year, Our Greek Village has earned an excellent reputation for its creativity and quality of instruction in language immersion, art, music, culture and traditions, dance and more.
Though the pandemic once again prevents a safe in-person program, the exceptional leadership team and skilled instructors for Our Greek Village are planning another exciting virtual program that will keep campers engaged in classes and activities that will culminate in a celebration at the end of a successful week of camp.
Our Greek Village is open to all youth ages 7 – 15, and will be offering an online program every day from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. (PDT) from June 19 – 26. Space is limited so secure your spot by registering online today.
For more information, email OurGreekVillage@gmail.com or visit www.ourgreekvillage.org.
About This Year’s Program
Many Greek women were actively involved in the revolution for independence. From the “Filiki Eteria” to Souli, the Mani peninsula and the Mesolongi.
Laskarina Bouboulina and Manto Mavrogenous were known for their unique contributions to the revolution. Elisabet Ypsilantis, mother of the Ypsilantidon and “Protomana of the Filikon”.
Marigo Zarafopoula, the “spy” of the Filiki Eteria. Konstantina Zacharia who gave the signal for the rebellion in the plains of Laconia when she was put in charge of 500 fighters in the town of Leondari. Asimo Lidorikis, who the French philhellenes admired as she wandered around the besieged Acropolis with the sword of her dead husband. Euanthia Kairis, a feminist and writer who in 1825 addressed the European philhellenic women. Captain Domna Visvizi, who saved Odyssea Androutsos, participated in many naval battles and gave her ship to the state to continue the fight for independence.
Εlliniko Horio 2021 pays tribute to these fearless and courageous women!
