The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America mourns the passing of the Rev. Joan Brown Campbell, a pioneer in the ecumenical movement, the first woman to lead the National Council of Churches, and a close friend and collaborator of the late Archbishop Iakovos. Like Archbishop Iakovos, Rev. Campbell took a firm pro-civil rights stance and received death threats after she invited the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to speak at her church in Ohio. May her memory be eternal!
