On Friday, June 6, 2025, Michael Sider-Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Orthodox Volunteer Corps, shared the following reflection with OVC’s supporters:

“We are nearing the close of our third cohort of Orthodox young adults in service.

Our Corps Members are talented people from across the United States – from Minnesota to Florida, from Arizona to Pennsylvania. They excelled during college, in studies and extracurriculars. Following graduation, they could have done any number of things. What they chose was to throw themselves into service, service with those who suffer acutely. Against all odds, they found in that year deep joy, rich community, growth in faith, and professional development. In losing their lives, they found them.

Last weekend, some members from each of our first three cohorts gathered for a wedding. It gave us a chance to mark what they are doing now. Two are teaching, two are preparing to become doctors, one will soon begin a PhD in neuroscience, another will begin a full-time position with an engineering firm, one is a grant writer, two work with the homeless, and another two work with folks so poor they could be homeless any day. They are all immersed in the Church. They are all living their faith.

There is nothing automatic, assumed, or inevitable about the 11 people pictured in the photo above. They are nothing short of extraordinary. Their lives and their reunion this past weekend, thanks be to God, are cause for celebration.”
