The final day of the 11th International Summer University at the Maliotis Cultural Center was a powerful testament to hope, continuity, and the dynamic presence of young Hellenism across the globe.
The morning unfolded with a forward-looking round table discussion exploring how the new generation of Greeksis engaging with the Diaspora and shaping the media of tomorrow. With themes such as:
- Teaching the Greek Language to Students
- The Transformative Role of Artificial Intelligence
- Diaspora Media and Greek Education
- Public Expression and Hellenism
- Climate Change and Journalistic Discourse
…this session bridged tradition with innovation, cultivating bold dialogue about identity, heritage, and the future.
Among the esteemed speakers were professors Dimitris Vardavas, Myrsini Dogani, Nikos Mathioudakis, Panagiota Kalakou, and Despina Stefanou, alongside a passionate group of young scholars: Stella Bompitsiari, Eleni Bourou, Eftychis Gryfakis, Dimitrios Mallidis, Styliani Magnisali, Dimitris Chaidas, Georgia-Dimitra Moschoviti, Vasilis Athanasiou, Eleni Karali, Giorgos Tsopotos, and Georgia Skiada. Their voices reminded us that Hellenism is not just a memory—it is a movement. These students and young professionals are carrying the torch of Greek language and culture into the future with vision, creativity, and heart.
The afternoon session, gracefully coordinated by Professor Nikoletta Tsitsanoudis-Mallidis, Director of the International Summer University Program, and Chrysoula Kourkounti, Executive Director of the Maliotis Cultural Center, crowned the week with dignity and inspiration.
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America honored the participants with an uplifting address and personally handed each of them a Diploma of Recognition, acknowledging their active role in the preservation and promotion of Hellenism.
Also joining this momentous conclusion was Maira Myrogianni, General Secretary for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, who reaffirmed the importance of programs that build bridges between Greece and its global diaspora.
As the curtain falls on this extraordinary week, we leave filled with gratitude, enriched by knowledge, and inspired by the shared vision of a global Hellenism that is alive, resilient, and future-ready.
