Bantam, Conn. – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios made a pastoral visit July 11, 2017, to Camp Saint Paul of the Direct Archdiocesan District. He was received with enthusiasm by the campers, spent the day with them, observed their activities heard and answered their questions, had lunch with them and gave them a pocket edition of the New Testament, a prayer bracelet with a small cross along with his blessings.
Camp Saint Paul, the successful youth ministry of the Direct Archdiocesan District, keeps growing every year. It was started in 2005 with forty-five campers for only one week. It now spans five weeks with an average 150 campers each week. There are approximately 40 young adults who volunteer as counselors and several of our clergy who serve in the camp.
Present during the activities of the day and the visit of Archbishop Demetrios were His Grace Bishop Andonios of Phasiane, Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Camp Director Fr. Elias Villis, DAD Philoptochos President Jennifer Constantin, Fr. Chrysostomos Gilbert, Fr. Dimitrios Lee, Dn. Panayiotis Papazafiropoulos, director of DAD Youth Ministries and Dn. Eleftherios Constantine.
