The legacy of Archbishop Anastasios is profoundly significant, not only for his successor but for all of us. He leaves behind the example of a true spiritual father who faithfully proclaimed the Gospel message of peace, justice, solidarity, unity, and reconciliation to the farthest corners of the earth. With unwavering resolve and grave responsibility, he guided a martyric Church through a critical period of transition. He bore the rare and solemn gift of opening hearts, reconciling differences, mending divisions, and employing religious experience—not, as he often said, as fuel to inflame conflict, but as a healing balm to tend to the wounds of humanity.
